God's Comedy We Deliver!

Last night's special show, "Chicks and Gaygles" was fantastic. We raised $95.05 for God's Love We Deliver. (Cuz you never know when you're gonna need that nickel! Just as comic Jenny Rubin...)

Chicks for Chicks

On Thursday, November 17, I had the pleasure of hosting comics Katina Corrao, Jen Dziura, Lorca Morello, Giulia Rozzi and Jenny Rubin at our fundraiser for the YWCA, held at 440 Studios. Here's what the folks from the Y had to say about our show:

From Melissa Lin, Development Associate:

Thanks again for all the time you've put in for us. It's truly appreciated, and I think it really went well. I was wondering if you could forward the names of the comedians last night to me, as well as the rest of the group? People have been asking me what their names are, etc... I think we have some real groupies here!

Anyway please pass on our regards to the comedians... They were fabulous. I'm definitely keeping my Tuesdays open...

From Jerome Grant:

I would also like to say CONGRATS to all of you for putting this special evening together. It was very well done and I think everyone in attendance had a great time.

Thank you all for your support of the YW.

Established in 1858, the YWCA of the City of New York is one of the nation's oldest non-profit organizations. Our mission is to empower the City's women, girls and their families and to eliminate racism. Our programs provide childcare at Early Learning Centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island: new Family Resource Centers that offer programs on parenting, job training, financial literacy, and health and nutrition in the communities where our Learning Centers are located; employment training for women; after-school programs for children, girls and young adults, and for youth with disabilities. We serve as a leading advocate for women, girls and diversity.

Praise From Richard, The Brit

Richard Cray from the British comedy music collective, Dogs Must Be Carried, stop by our show and was impressed.

From his blog:
The show’s poster claims the show has the “funniest females ever” and on the basis of what we saw on Tuesday, that may not be a boast without foundation - because we were treated to some classy material from some extremely entertaining ladies, all skillfully kept moving along at a pace by co-producer Carolyn Castiglia, who’s currently juggling her stand up work with being a mother to a five-week-old baby girl. I don’t know where she gets the energy - but I have a feeling it might not be available at Rite Aid.

He also mentioned this:
Lianne Stokes’ “Do I look like a motherfuckin’ mindreader?” routine will stay with me for a very long time, as will Mindy Raf’s painfully funny impersonation of an average Midwest girl having an orgasm. It was a great, great show - fitting for a last night in town - and I reckon that they’ll be looking for a yet another, bigger venue in the not too distant future.

Mindy and her V4 Million

Comic Mindy Raf, who just did our show for the first time, is featured in this great video short by The Post Show boys. Check it out! (Calling all ladies - cute bare chest at the end - holla!)

The Crowd

They're not laughing yet, because some New Yorkers don't like their picture taken! Don't worry, a digital camera won't steal your soul, but working on Wall Street will.

November 1: The Return of CKC

Our show this past Tuesday was another stellar star accentuated by the return of our host, Carolyn Castiglia. Yay!

Jenny Rubin started off the show, and reminded us how close we are to being ghoulish.
Molly Reisner has subway crush.
Jodi Young is one sexy bitch.
Jackie Cohen is running the marathon this weekend and can make you laugh.
Becky Yamamoto wants to do an Industrial Revolution musical. [Don't steal her idea.]
Susannah Perlman brings back the hairpiece and fall foliage.
Rachael Parenta ends the with a bang!

We had more talent agency peeps in the audience and the crowd was great!
